Watercolors

Rolande Hubert-Leveugle developed her talent as a watercolorist in Brittany, her adopted land, and the Gulf of Morbihan holds a special place in her work. She spent long periods there with her great friend Anne-Yves Le Ho who owned a family house in La Trinité-sur-mer and who often accompanied her when she painted..

The vacations and stays in the Gulf of Morbihan allowed her to soak up the special atmosphere of this “little sea” in Southern Brittany..

She keeps nostalgic memories of her days spent at the Spanish Fort in a house of an oyster farm keeper.
The Spanish Fort is a small peninsula at the entrance of the river Loch, in the town of Crac’h, not far from Auray, which enjoys a spectacular view of the Gulf of Morbihan. She was thus ready to go at dawn or at sunset, to plant her easel on the coast...

She also keeps the memory of the inescapable pleasures of this region:
the oysters with a nutty flavor tasted at the oyster farmer’s,
warm scallops on buttered rye bread,
the pommés just out of the bakery’s oven,
the Kouign-amann which leaves your hands sticky with butter and sugar,
the Far Breton with prunes and of course the incomparable buckwheat pancakes (“a complete one” if you please!).
